About The Artwork

Women in Gold Poppies I wanted to portray a strong woman contemplating life while sitting among poppies. Poppies have long been used as a symbol of sleep, peace, and death. The white poppy has been adopted as the symbol of peace and pacifism. In this painting I choose to portray the promise of growth and transformation; as just before blooming, the bud hangs its head – heavy with the promise of blossom. Gold is a very powerful symbol for the transformation of the soul as it is the ultimate symbol of virtue, longevity and eternity. Gold can also symbolize the perfection of mind, body and spirit; the pure transformation of Self. I wanted to portray her as contemplating her possibilities, for they are great. What she may not know, is that she is already perfect as she is.
