About The Artwork
Church near my house is in neo-roman style and presbiterium is tiled with one of the most beautiful mosaics I've seen in Poland. Whole church is beautiful and it have been inspiring my artistic imagination since I was very young. I really love moisaics and at some point planned to go to Ravenna / Italy to study it, but eventually it was only the trip to see all the wonders there with my own eyes. This painting is a longing for mosaics and my very humble tribute to them. Painting is mixed media (oil + schlagmetal + glossy varnish) on HDF wisible between colour spots. Wooden canvas. HDF and wood are visible on the side. Small technical flaws are welcome in my works, as matherial perfection I leave to manufacturing. I built canvas myself and so it is not perfect and at closer look you can see joints and nail's heads, as well and as uneven surface and sometimes gaps in schlagmetal leaves. It does not disturb the harmony of the whole object however, and I see it as a additional value of my personal touch. Work is framed in delicate (1,5 cm wide) gold painted frame.

I want my art to make it better - even for a moment, even in a tiny way. I want it to remind myself and others that it's worth to try everyday...
