A treasure of brilliant, loving energy is expressed through the artistry of things in this large vertical still life oil painting. The artist invites the viewer to engage with the table presented and it's palette of dynamic hues and shapes. Brilliant window-like blocks of color create a backdrop for the eclectic setting and it's intricate patterns and connections. The staged array appeals to the curiosity of place with it's perspective and invites the senses to consider the taste of a crisp apple, the scent of fresh flowers and discovering what's in the clay pitcher. It's within this mosaic of shapes that the possibility of dreams is ignited. Inspiration for the painting began with the idea of looking out a window while sitting at a beautifully appointed table. It's filled with wonder and lyrical brushwork as well as a sophisticated sense of design. This was painted on a gallery wrapped canvas that is ready to hang.

ARTISTS STATEMENT: I observe, and participate in, the change of hues. I stand alone in a perspective—influenced by the roads and detours that I’ve chosen. The subjects I interpret on canvas dance with tradition, but underneath exists an individual search for freedom. As a creator, I’ve always been interested in working with color. I see my life as having a palette of its own and I seek to have the chroma of my experiences come through in my paintings. Over time, I’ve realized the only way to achieve this goal is to risk exposure—to unveil my simplified forms to the viewer. Whether the forms operate within the context of landscape or still life, the resulting narrative is always a story of merit, regardless of public perception or understanding. BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION: I was born in Vancouver, BC in 1958 and then moved to California which is where my parents originally met. I lived there until I was 6 when my family moved across the US to New Jersey for my father's work. I grew up in a creative family and pursued art in college only to leave it upon graduation, dabbling with it over the years that followed. In 2010 I returned to painting on a more committed basis. This was spawned by some significant life changes and painting became my respite. I still reside in New Jersey and as an artist I appreciate the proximity to both Philadelphia and New York City. I've been showing my work since 2011 and continue to do so.
