This vivid little painting dates back to a trip my husband and I took up to a borrowed cabin in the eastern sierras, we stayed in a little hamlet called Aspendell, overlooking the most incredibly beautiful meadow, ringed by gorgeous mountains. The meadow was filled with wildflowers of all varieties, some of which are slightly abstracted and depicted here in a small faceted emerald green gem vase, on a bright neon pink, floral patterned vinyl tablecloth, against a background of gently swirling deep blue, purple and pink. This painting is small but mighty with vibrant colors, flat, wonderful planes and thick chalky matte gouache paint creating a soft, velvety texture when the light hits the surface.
