About The Artwork
My current series is all about expressing a mysterious quiet moment in time... I have this spot specific spot in my studio where the afternoon light slips in through a small window, and when I place an object (or objects) in that spot and the light hits it just right.... the golden sunlight makes those objects seem to glow from the inside. As an artist, I'm always trying to capture those moments and it keeps the embers of my creative life glowing year after year...Im always chasing light. Born in South Africa and currently living in France. I originally trained as an interior designer but changed tracks later in life when I was seduced by oil paint. I am fascinated by the emotional bonds that we have with decorative objects and interior spaces, becoming elevated when we capture these on film or art. I am self taught and work mainly in oil, influenced by the Dutch masters and contemporary Realist movement.
