White Birds in Flight on Rust Brown Background Original Folk Art Painting

This painting, which can be hung portrait or landscape in any direction, was painted during the move from Oakland to San Leandro. We would drive back and forth along the coastal road with carloads of beloved objects and I would gaze out of the window, watching the birds wheeling in the sky. When I had a moment to sit down in the evenings, I would work on this piece to decompress. The rich rusty brown is the same color as the lampshade in my bedroom. The birds fill the space almost entirely, a tight flock in flight. While earthier in tone than most of my work, this piece bears my characteristic thick visible brush strokes in matte velvety gouache. It has an attached pale wood frame which cannot be removed as it is part of the board. It'll ship, as usual, wrapped in layers of protective glassine and padding, from my lovely new home in San Leandro, California.
