Sometimes you go for a hike in the Blue Ridge Mountains and you travel through young forests that smell so divine. The scent of spruce, fir and pine fill the air and your two on the painting were just on a hike, when their companion yellow lab sat by a pine tree and began to wag her tail, then to bark and lastly to chew on the trunk of the tree until she had cut it. This is a dog that knows what she wants: a tree to fill the home with that wonderful scent. So these two picked up the tree and started walking back home. Even though the tree the yellow lab picked is a small one, it was quite heavy. This lab is determined and tenacious, so from time to time she would stop, turn and tell her friends “We are almost there,” encouraging them, despite the long walk ahead of them through this lovely mountain range that opens up your mind and your heart. This painting appeard on the back cober of the magazine Modern Renaissance, published by Culturally Arts, December 2021 issue 07.

Sabina Puppo grew up in a family of artists. Sabina’s art education started under the tutelage of her grandparents and father. Sabina paints what is on her mind with a harmonious palette and a rhythmic flow of lines and details. Sabina found success early in her art career. When she was 6 years old, one of her drawings drew a bidding war between two art collectors. Another of her drawings was selected for the cover of a record. Before her 10th birthday she sold prints of her drawings and donated funds to Children's Hospitals. Throughout her career she focused on figurative ink drawings with intricate details. In her mid-forties she and her husband moved to a farmhouse in a tranquil little piece of paradise that proudly calls itself Pueblo Eden in the Uruguayan countryside. In 2021, she and her husband moved back to the USA and established her art studio in Leesburg, Virginia. Sabina has been influenced by Henri Rousseau, Caleb Ives Bach and Francisco Toledo. She treasures early American folk art, romanesque, pre-columbian and Native American art. Sabina loves painting stories about life in nature. “Joyful” and “uplifting” are the words most often used to describe her artwork. Sabina’s oil paintings celebrate rural landscapes and Nature in general. Other paintings depict life in New England, where she lived for decades. Her art has been exhibited in Uruguay, the United States, Italy and Bulgaria. Her work has endeared her to many collectors who have taken her art to private collections in Uruguay, Argentina, Spain, France, Italy, Germany, UK, Israel, Japan, Canada and the United States. Sabina’s wish: “I hope you enjoy the paintings as you get to imagine your own stories. I would love for a painting to bring up a pleasant memory or a smile! Each painting is unique and original, and they have been imagined and painted with great joy.”
