Walking in the sunshine Painting

Walking in the Sunshine was inspired by the freedom we have to walk in in the fresh air under the sun. In 2021 we had extended lockdowns in Melbourne over 200 days where many of our freedoms were restricted a time when this work was created. This work was significant in my studio practice showing a district shift in my work, when I pushed away from my comfort zone in the studio. Making new discoveries in my practice and developing new ways of working helped me break out of my mental space. I achieved this by using a new palate of highly saturated colours and adopted a different way of mark making with paint that was emotionally driven. The result was a vivid painting of rich colours that lifts my spirits and offers me pathways to the imagination.
