Conventionally, walking on the wild side means engaging in extreme behaviours, but what if that extreme behaviour was stopping being a people pleaser or looking externally to validation. That would be wild for most people. This painting marks a shift in my perspective, where I dare to create art and writing that I love, not necessarily what gets the most audience appreciation on social media etc. Daring to be oneself is to walk on the wild side! The palette reflects the jubilation I experienced when I had the epiphany of truly engaging my self belief. The vibrancy of the work in bold magentas and orange is grounded by the earth colours and cooler buff tones of the centre of the work and I am delighted to share it with the world.

My art is primarily organic abstraction, often portraying surreal and softened landscapes. A dream or nebulous quality marks both transitions and compositions. This is derived from a mode of life, which is rooted in inner stillness. I live in South West France, surrounded by tranquil forests. That quietness of being is what I strive for in my studio. I paint without distraction, so that I can fully connect with what I am creating. The more I can remove myself from the process, the better the work. I only paint in oils as they give such wonderful luminosity and I prefer large scale pieces for freedom of mind.
