About The Artwork
Acrylic on canvas, framed 34x34cm, silky/ slightly glossy finish, signed and dated on the back. The painting was inspired by my love for Spain, especially the south with its beautiful light and hot summers. The paint is applied in many layers and gives the painting a rich, thick texture. I am a Czech-born and now Germany based painter. In my works I explore the essence of what surrounds me: why do people act the way they do? What lies beneath the surface of what meets the eye? What are we driven by? To express what I sense beneath the surface I feel drawn to different materials and a range of colours, which I apply in different layers on my canvases and papers, using a variety of techniques including scratching, brushing and printing. This way expressive works are created, some reduced to basic expressions, others rich in colour and texture.
