About The Artwork
One day I was driving along streets North of Toronto, I passed through streets lined with oversize houses. These houses gleamed under the sun on pristine pavements. I recalled this was the farmland which I once took my children to apple picking. I did not see people anywhere in this neighbourhood perhaps due to the time of the day. Grand homes seem to measure the dwellers’ success. Are residents of these grand houses really need so much space? The quietude haunted me. I thought of Edward Hopper's moody and melancholic paintings. At that moment I was inspired to express my impression of these sprawling dwellings in a series of paintings
