About The Artwork

"Two Sides of the Same Coin" was inspired by the concept of duality inherent in all aspects of life. The painting draws from the philosophical idea that every entity embodies both light and dark elements, akin to the yin and yang. The contrasting black and white horses symbolize this balance and the interconnectedness of opposing forces within nature and within ourselves. I hope viewers will experience a deep sense of introspection when they view this piece. The duality represented by the black and white horses is intended to evoke a contemplation of one's own nature, the light and dark sides that coexist within every individual. This painting aims to encourage viewers to embrace and understand their complete selves, recognizing that both sides are essential parts of their identity. I chose acrylic paint for its dynamic properties and ability to create sharp contrasts and fluid movements. The subject matter of two horses, one black and one white, was selected to vividly represent the theme of duality. The style combines realism with abstract elements, emphasizing the fluidity and motion of the horses' manes to symbolize the continuous interplay of opposing forces. This approach allows for a visual exploration of balance, harmony, and the seamless integration of light and dark.

My name is Keyla Graffe. I'm an artist specialized in realism, surrealism and abstract-realism. My work is a reflection of my inner connection with the world around me. Born and raised in Venezuela, my artistic journey has been shaped by the tumultuous backdrop of civil warn that forced me to seek solace elsewhere. Leaving my homeland, I embarked on a path of artistic exploration, channeling my experiences into soulful pieces. Living currently in Morocco has inspired me to create a series of paintings influenced by its cultural symbols like the Atlas Lion and the stunning fantasia horses that I had the privilege to see in a traditional festival in Marrakech. On a personal level, I love to create pieces that reflect the beautiful things in life and nature but also how everything has a wild and dark side to it. I explore different themes like identity, nature, and the connections we all share, using a variety of mediums to bring my ideas to life. Each piece I create is a journey of its own, combining bold, expressive strokes with delicate, detailed patterns, blending my two worlds into something unique. Art, to me, is all about connecting with people and sharing stories. I hope my work speaks to you and adds a bit of beauty and inspiration to your day.
