Dragonflies are a recurring theme, here I've glazed their wings so they shine when viewed from the side. The flowers are in gesso giving a raised texture and the copper paint is very distinctive again when the light is on the painting from the side.

My themes are horses from the Mughal and Tang Empires, birds, hares, gardens and interiors. I use gesso in some of my work which I build up in layers and distress, in conjunction with acrylic, oil and gold leaf. I particularly love the effect of craquelure. I use deep canvases painted over the sides, none of my work needs to be framed and they are all ready to hang.
