TURN (Orange) Painting

My recent works, which are made of vinyl, use repetition through serigraphed imagery along with the practice of addition and reduction to transform individual elements and components into a whole, realized composition. The method is a meditation on the duality of space, the importance of distance and lack there of. This duality influences the relationship of the element to the whole, while also celebrating the fascination of transformation and the idea of new unities. For the last fifteen years industrial grade vinyl has been my medium of choice. I am drawn to its versatile nature and am still finding new methods of production and aesthetic values. Why do I produce art? What can I tell you that hasn’t been said of art, the process of making art and its relevance in the world today? Well. I can tell you that I’m in it for the slow motion thrills and slow reveals - the accidents - the un-intentions. I’m in it for the details and the overview. I’m drawn to the untraditional mediums — the complicated, multifaceted processes; the ones that never go as planned. I’m in it for the planning. I’m in it for the lack of foresight only seen in hindsight. I’m inspired by trash. I’m searching for the note that is out of tune. I’m inspired by treasure and the pop masterpiece. I’m exited by the transition of value. I’m in it for the story and feeling I can’t convey in w-o-r-d-s. I’ve been running the rackets for nearly twenty years. I’ve been too impatient for a proper invitation and have taken things into my own hands — being both conceptor, producer and seller. And I’ve secretly enjoyed every minute of it.
