This painting is part of the series of works titled "Oliver Twist". which was inspired be the statement "I want some more" from the famous book by Charles Dickens named "Oliver Twist". In this series, I focused on certain individuals close to me in different fields or line of work with great goals and visions who are willing to keep seeking more from themselves, pushing beyond boundaries despite starting out with little or no financial support. It features a lady named Treasure Chidinma. To her, there is no precise year or age she started art because as far as her memory can take her, she has always been making art since she learned to handle a pencil. It was a talent, a passion, an identity. In a period of time where she worked as my assistant, I got to understand a lot about her and her goals and visions; something worth painting about. The painting captures her in a moment where she is lost in her thoughts in front of a canvas which is blank. She is with a pencil experiencing an Artist's block due to several reasons and challenges that affect her thoughts. She is covered in a garment, unstitched or yet to be sewn into a cloth which in this scenario defines the major occupation of her sister and mother, whom are seamstresses and fashion designers. She covers herself with a clothing material from their stock inorder to prevent cold as she stays up at night mostly to paint. There are different books beside her which includes a diary for her poetry and ideas, novels and inspiring books as she a lover of books and has a great intellectual capacity.
