About The Artwork
This work was inspired by the Barbican in London and the interaction between urbanism and nature. I've chosen bold pinks and turquoise to reflect this dynamic and the tranquility of the area on a warm summers day. Details include lone figures and couples sat on benches looking out onto the water. I named the work 'To Solitude' after it was completed, I think it connects beautifully to this poem: 'O Solitude! If i must with thee dwell, Let it not be among the jumbled heap Of murky buildings; climb with me the steep, - Nature's observatory - whence the dwell, Its flowery slopes, its river's crystal swell...' John Keats, 1817.
