About The Artwork
This painting is work based on the use of film stills. It is one of a series using The Third Man as an inspiration. I took a series of photos as the film played and became interested in the slightly degraded quality of the image as film-like and moving. The painting is made and then deliberately blurred while wet. This supports the indistinct vista of the city at night as the protagonist moves through it searching to solve a mystery. It becomes potentially a remembered rather than a real space.
