The Director of the Hood Museum at Dartmouth College, Hanover New Hampshire in honouring this painting with a juror's award this summer, said "somewhere between Matisse and Turner, Three Part Harmony is full of evocation. Just when you think you're on solid ground, you start shifting again and you realise you're in this nondescript space--it's a wonderful painting. You enter into is and you don't come our of it for a very long time."

Inspired by sunsets observed along Florida's Gulf Coast, this painting which is influenced both by Turner and Matisse, seeks to express the emotional response as well as the visual one to the glorious colours spread by the setting sun across the waters of the Gulf of Mexico, the clouds of Florida's big skies and the tropical landscape of it's open inlands.
