About The Artwork
The Witness II is a painting of one of the palm trees in the foreground of archive photographs taken during the Baker nuclear test in 1946 (on Bikini Island) The bands across the tree's trunk were painted onto the trees enable measurements of wave height during the operation. Bleach is used as an oxidising agent, the mark making eradicating the colour in the paper and only becoming fully visible minutes after the brush has left the paper. Although it comes unframed it can be framed if you require it. If you were to frame it yourself I would suggest to have it floating on a black background with a deep dark wooden frame and UV resistant glass. I have also painted similar pieces in different sizes. As a professional art handler I will pack up the work as a gallery would do for safe postage, by tube, anywhere in the world. This piece is signed and titled on the back in pencil - KH 2017 and comes with a certificate of authenticity.
