About The Artwork

Rembrandt fluid colours and oil on canvas. There was an ‘Egyptian’ phase. The roots of the Tree spread deep through ancient times and places. The original title of the painting was: “The Tree of Life”. Of recent I have felt the need to modify it, to follow the evolution of times, from the Romantic view that George G. Byron expressed in his “Manfred”: “Sorrow is knowledge: they who know the most Must mourn the deepest o’er the fatal truth, The Tree of Knowledge is not that of Life.” (“Manfred”, Act 1, sc. 1)

To the lessons of Maria Dal Conte, my Teacher of Art at High School, and later, after University, to the lessons of Liliana Barbieri, an artist from Brera Academy in Milan, I owe most of my beginnings in artistic activity. To my teacher of Philosophy, Renato Tisato, and, later, to the acquaintance of Rossana Bossaglia, Professor of the History of Art, I think I owe a great deal as well.
