About The Artwork

Images on both sides of the paper represent a big cube, probably a building, seen from below. It could be a fortress, a prison, a magazine or something else. I named it Towers of Jericho as a combination of two biblical stories. The towers of Babylon were so high, that people couldn't communicate one with another anymore, consequently each begun to use their own language. As a result, they didn't understand one another anymore. The second is about the walls of Jericho, the most fortified city of its time. Instead of trying to demolish them, Israelites used trumpets, which produced such a strong sound, that they crushed the wall. I feel like our world looks solid as those walls, but could be crushed by such a subtle thing as weather. And preventing it is so difficult, because we all speak the same language, but don't understand each other anymore. Big cubes in murky tones, without windows, seen from below, act depressive, and unreadable script make them even more "unheimlich". But the meaning will be even more hazy, when a curator gets them. Paper is painted from both sides with a similar motive and I send them anonymously to curators around the world. I want to find out, how an art professional feels, what is his experience, as she receives an unusual package with a both sides painted object, which is not accompanied with any requests or proposals. They would ask "Why would anyone send something like this?" The answer is as mysterious as the art should be... You can find more about it on my website www.spiller.si or on my Youtube channel @TeoSpiller.

Shipping & Returns

Delivery Time:Typically 5-7 business days for domestic shipments, 10-14 business days for international shipments.

I use machines to create art, wondering if machines will one day understand my art. Computers, mobile phones and robots are strongly getting into our minds. We are more and more behaving like machines, while Intelligent devices are more and more behaving like humans. Once there might be no difference between the machine and the human at all. I examine different forms our technology based society takes, and the motives that lie behind it. I use the copy-paste culture, post-production and modularity as the common denominators of the digitized worlds. Altering them is a way of questioning the attitudes, fears, unwritten rules, opportunities and dangers which have formed that environment and our behavior within it. Aesthetics and ontology of my work are strongly related to my working process. I take icons, symbols and other entities from the mediated reality and combine them in algorhytmic ways. I strive to convey that sense of algorhytmic simplicity by capturing its algorhytmic language.
