About The Artwork

"Two things fill the mind with ever new and increasing admiration and awe, the oftener and more steadily we reflect on them: the starry heavens above me and the moral law within me." This profound phrase comes from the German philosopher Immanuel Kant and is found in his work “Critique of Practical Reason” (1788). It encapsulates the sense of wonder and reverence that Kant felt when contemplating two vast and complex entities: the universe and the inner realm of human morality. The “starry heavens above” refers to the physical universe, the vast expanse of space filled with stars, planets, and galaxies. It represents the natural world and the endless mysteries it holds. The more we learn about the cosmos, the more we realize how much there is yet to discover, which fills us with a sense of admiration and awe. The “moral law within” signifies the innate sense of right and wrong that exists within each person. It’s the internal compass that guides our actions and judgments, independent of external laws and societal norms. This moral law is not something we can see or touch, but it’s a powerful force that shapes our decisions and our sense of self.
