The Reality of our Dreams #1 Oil and acrylics on canvas 100x100x4cm - 2021 This painting shows the meeting between our dreams and reality. For those who are new to the concept of my work with bananas and strawberries, bananas very briefly symbolize "chaos" or "creativity", strawberries represent "love" and spots "order" or also decisions or options in life. About this work itself: In my view, we are unable to capture exactly what dreams are like, at least visually speaking. In this way, when translating them for the canvas, they are painted more loosely than the elements that I call reality. It is possible to observe that dreams comprise the lower part of the work, immersed in a beautiful Prussian blue that moves as something organic, while the reality, on the upper part, is composed of perfectly painted spots, as well as bananas and strawberries with greater wealth. of details. Note that most of the spots that make up the part where I show the "reality" are of a color, and the closer to the part that makes up the "dream" they start to become colored. It is a way of saying that our dreams also shape our reality, offering more options than we normally see when we are awake. As with some of my latest paintings, the spots are painted to the edges, which gives the viewer the feeling of expansion/movement, or in other words, infinity. There is a lot to say about these paintings, but I prefer not to explain everything I think because I like that the observer also creates his theories and narratives about! Eric - Below is a text from my instagram @CarrazedoArt about this painting and what it also represents to me: What would become of our reality without our dreams (and vice versa)? Going deeper into the series - now with the addition of the strawberry - I take the opportunity to draw on the concept and style introduced by the work "Fearless Dream" ("Dreaming without fear", posted on my feed) in this work. As I said a few posts ago, one of the most difficult things for me was to get down to the facts without going into shock - although at a given moment I literally entered. The years were passing by and I was permanently at war with myself, completely dependent on outside things and approvals. It was an internal unhappiness that seemed endless. I didn't stop at anything, I didn't feel part of anything. Acidity and sarcasm were my armor. I was looking for just two things: money and validation. And even this was not going well. People are not stupid, it is possible to read who is only after this in a short time. And I was hanging myself slowly every day. The internal pressure that I put on this impossible-to-win competition was completely against what I really wanted, or should have done - but I didn't have the courage - because it would be necessary to forget a lot of things about my past and even let go of sadness. Perhaps the most difficult thing was to put aside the false guarantees of stability that I thought I had with "normal" work, in fact I was outsourcing responsibility for my life. Today, even in the midst of this pandemic chaos, I need to be very grateful. First because I am healthy. But also because of what I do, because it is indeed a blessing to work with what you love, even if at certain times you experience a certain agony in the face of so many uncertainties. And they beat without mercy, you can be sure of that. On the other hand, if I had so many certainties, I might be able to accommodate myself and not go after what I think really matters within my personal fulfillment. There is nothing worse than being accommodated, as we are able to accommodate even what is bad. But I can't charge myself more than I already do. Understanding that certain things are the way they are in this present moment is essential to move forward. Let´s go!
