About The Artwork
During my residence in Amsterdam, I had the unique opportunity to visit a synagogue and be invited to witness a Talmudic (religious) session between a rabbi and his student as he was reviewing passages of the Talmud, focusing on specific sections of the Torah, with their scrolls in the background. Witnessing this experience, I observed the intensity of that lesson session between the spiritual teacher trying to provide the depth of his knowledge to the student who sits next to him expressing his intense focus and attentiveness, yearning to understand and feel the wisdom and knowledge imparted by the rabbi, as he looks up with respect devoting himself to listening to the symbolic and religious significance of the words explained and spoken by this religious teacher and guide. The composition visualizing this event I created as a collage, with enamel paints, mat medium, colored india inks, sheep wool and cloth.
