The Perfect Storm Oil and acrylics on canvas 150x200cm - 2021 This is a work that will definitely draw attention not only for its wealth of details, but also for its most diverse meanings. Currently it is one of my greatest paintings, and certainly one of the most laborious and complex. Storms can be destructive, but they also take what was already about to be wiped out. In this case, this work presents all the elements of the series "A Dangerous Monkey" and others, such as arrows and even squares, in order to reflect this stormy state in a visually elegant and poetic way. Note that the canvas has an idea of being "cut in half" by precisely painted spots. As always, I try to make a transition every time I add new ideas and elements. This idea arises a lot due to works like "The Reality of our Dreams" (which you can check on my profile too), where I talk about the relationship between dreams and reality. The edges of this "opening" are touched by the storm that dominates the work, causing some of the spots to turn to other colors. This denotes a lot of the movement that this work has and its capacity to transform even the most solid elements, since we are talking about a strong storm. The vintage telephone, famous for appearing in some of my works, it spreads throughout it, symbolizing that much of our communication is currently experiencing turbulence. Note the location of each part of it! Bananas (my symbolism for both chaos and creativity) are found flying and even wrapped around the telephone line, as if they were required to the maximum. There is even the addition of just a banana peel, as if it were time to change / reinvent ourselves. In addition, some bananas are arrowed: changes are not always pleasant, but are necessary throughout life. We can also draw an analogy between this and the presence of strawberries (which briefly symbolize Love). Much of our suffering we think is due to Love, when in fact it is passions that make us act as if we are in the whirlwind of a ... storm. Was this painting really moved by this? This is something I will leave open ... Other elements like the squares (present for the first time) also show up, but I'll keep a little more of the mystery. Even though in a way I have explained a relatively large part of this work, there is a lot to be said - and not said about it. I also like the observer to explore his own imagination when he/she sees it. Does everything have a meaning? Or is it that such a storm is just something of the nature, inevitable? Maybe it's life, or maybe we put ourselves inside countless storms throughout life, as they are part of our growth in a way. In any case, I hope that the reflections of this work will serve to transcend time and bring a lot of light wherever you are. As always, my works, even when they talk about strong themes to us as human beings, always seek to bring a welcoming reflection to the soul. Eric
