This painting comes from a detailed study of a popular coffee shop in Saint Paul. This location has been active for more than 40 years with the original roaster in a corner of the shop and light streaming in windows most of the day. I wanted to capture a regular moment of pause and community while also meditating on the different light effects that defined the entire space
