About The Artwork
Most artists have a bit of imposter syndrome. I’m no different. The title came from a discussion I was having about the phenomenon with my therapist. This was the very first piece I painted in my new space, before it was even finished. I did it the old fashioned way, on the rickety mid-century Anco easel that I have long wrestled with –– I’ve since built a large wall easel to do larger pieces. I happened to grab this palette of colors from the art store a few days earlier and just started to attack the canvas. Once I laid the brighter colors, I started to add a black foreground. It started to feel to me like a chaotic crowd, and definitely a good way to describe my brain on any given day.
