About The Artwork

this work was inspired by a photographic collection of Pripyat the feeder town for Chernobyl. A purpose built town a few kilometres from the disaster site Pripyat has continued to decay at a rapid rate with little human intervention or involvement. My image depicts the playground which had only just been installed prior to the disaster a somber reminder of the innocence of the towns people and what they were yet to face.

Marc Rayner Born 1959 in Wollongong, N.S.W, Australia. Currently lives and works in central Sweden. The integration of quasi architectural and natural landscapes forms the spine of my social, historical and political commentary. Neoexpressionism is my sphere of operation. It suits my temperament. The Neoexpressionist genre also accurately reflects the distorted paradigm in which we live.
