About The Artwork
From my new Departure collection. After painting so many figures I wanted a more extreme departure from that work which is what I named my most recent collection. The under painting was created with a variety of spontaneous unplanned mark making with acrylic paint, charcoal and soft pastels. Sections that were visually appealing to me were masked with tape or masking liquid. I then removed the masking materials and came in with simple bands of paint. It is sealed with UV protective varnish, the sides are painted and it is ready to hang. There are two similar paintings on here so if you would like something for a bigger space- consider hanging two side by side or vertically over each other.

After 25 years in Los Angeles, CA, I am an artist now based out of South Carolina. Though I studied art in college at Georgia State University and Otis College of Art & Design in Los Angeles, I am mostly self-taught. As an artist, everything to me is form, color, movement and balance. My inspiration comes from all mediums: books, videos, film, nature, my dreams and thoughts in my quiet moments. Painting was the natural progression from drawing. I work on both small and large scale canvases, creating both abstract and figurative works.
