The painting´s story is based on the lushness of the jungle. I am a green painter, I always end up with green no matter what color I decide on starting with. So I wanted to do something grand, something that would demand the viewer to take time in front of this painting.

I seldom want to direct the viewer onto a political path but this time turned out differently. With a new president in Brazil whos ignorance gave room for cutting down more of the Amazonian rainforest and with the huge fires in Australia that killed thousands of animals, without compresence, I realized that I needed a human being in my painting. I realized the human had to be falling. At least that is what it felt. It was a fall for the human race…

Glenn M. Skibsted is a contemporary artist who works in oil. He has had several exhibitions both internationally and his home country, Norway. "Human nature, light and environment are the basis of my work. Portrayed in scenes of everyday life where thinking, feeling and acting is something that naturally bonds us all. The aim is to recall, reveal and make available essential emotions and traits that often can be left to fade away. Whether they come from our ethnological background or whether they have been shaped by environmental/surrounding influences they all are elements of human nature, defining our choices, impulses. The final result of my research is aimed to challenge the viewer both esthetically and emotionally. As a reference to something that "Le Corbusier" once said - I want my work to be a thought that reveals itself without word or sound, but solely by means of shapes, which stand in a certain relationship to one another. I would like to plant a seed. The rest is up to you." http://glennskibsted.com
