About The Artwork

"The Court" 2023 Oil on linen Acrylic background 65x80cm In this painting, we see the head of a king rendered in a cubist style, set against a black background. The king's head is the central focus, but what immediately catches the eye are the multitude of faces and colors that surround it, representing the court that the king always keeps in mind. The cubist style is characterized by geometric shapes and fragmented forms, and in this portrayal of the king's head, those elements are evident. The features of the king's face are deconstructed into geometric planes and angles, giving it an abstract quality. The use of bold, vibrant colors adds energy and dynamism to the composition. But what truly makes this painting unique is the abundance of faces and colors surrounding the king's head. These represent the court, the people who surround and support the king in his rule. Each face is different, reflecting the diversity and complexity of the court, and they are depicted in a variety of colors to further emphasize this diversity. Some faces may be prominent, while others are more subtly integrated into the composition, creating a sense of depth and layering. By incorporating these elements, the artist highlights the idea that the king is always aware of his court. The overload of faces and colors symbolizes the multitude of voices and influences that shape the king's decisions and actions. It suggests that even in the solitude of his thoughts, the king is constantly reminded of the intricate network of relationships and dynamics within his court. Overall, this painting captures the essence of a cubist interpretation of a king's head, surrounded by a vivid representation of his court. It invites viewers to contemplate the complexities of power, influence, and the interplay between a ruler and his entourage.

https://www.oscarnin.com/ My name is Oscar Sancho Nin, but I am known as Oscar Nin. I was born into a humble family in Spain. Ever since I was a child, I had a passion for drawing that eventually turned into a love for painting. In the 2010s, I began promoting my work, and it was met with great success. Saatchi Art, formerly known as Saatchi Online, sold a large number of my artworks starting in 2013. In 2014, I sold over 80 original artworks through galleries and independently. Over the years, my painting style has evolved, but I remain fundamentally the same artist. I enjoy experimenting with two distinct aspects in my work: colorful and dark pieces. However, I also find pleasure in merging both elements within a single composition, creating intriguing and thought-provoking contrasts. This duality reflects my fascination with the interplay of light and shadow, and how they can convey deep emotions and meanings. One of my greatest interests as an artist lies in human psychology. I am captivated by exploring the complexities of the human mind and spirit through my paintings. I immerse myself in the depths of the human experience, seeking to authentically and sensitively depict it. Often, this involves reinterpreting classics with an introspective approach, adding layers of light and shadow that accentuate the emotional nuances of the artwork. Painting is my greatest motivation as long as it presents challenges. I lose myself in my work with a playful childlike spirit, constantly seeking new forms of expression and pushing my creative boundaries. My goal is to evoke a sense of life and mystery in each brushstroke, creating an emotional connection with the viewer.
