The digital image of this was sponsored by a bible ministry; the commission being to produce a cover for their course on the Book of Ruth. To the upper left of the painting, the dark skies are parted by a blast of the Holy Spirit descending upon Ruth, here depicted as a receptacle of the light on the left hand side. There are mountains in the work, which represent the flight she carried out to a new land. She undertook the journey out of loyalty to another woman, which is why the mountains are covered in gold mist. Whether you are biblically minded or not, the work is about communication with the divine, earthly and heavenly journeys and human bonds forged in honour.

My art is primarily organic abstraction, often portraying surreal and softened landscapes. A dream or nebulous quality marks both transitions and compositions. This is derived from a mode of life, which is rooted in inner stillness. I live in South West France, surrounded by tranquil forests. That quietness of being is what I strive for in my studio. I paint without distraction, so that I can fully connect with what I am creating. The more I can remove myself from the process, the better the work. I only paint in oils as they give such wonderful luminosity and I prefer large scale pieces for freedom of mind.
