About The Artwork

Like many of my abstract landscapes the underpainting was inspired by Martin Johnson Heade's "Thunder Storm on Narraganset Bay" As I developed the image it began to draw on wider associations from Iguazu Falls which I viewer on a trip to Argentina to the great national parks in the U.S. as well as the ways in which the painters of the Hudson River School expressed majestic landscapes. This is a six panel painting, each panel is 24" x 32" There is approximately 1/2 in between each panel. The image extends around the edges of each panel. No framing is necessary.

My work is about being away from crowded places. It is quiet, free and open. I hope to provide a moment of respite, to invite viewers to pause, take a deep breath, drop their shoulders, let down their guard, feel new energy from within.
