About The Artwork
This is a very personal work, the inspiration was a baby photo of myself being held by my mother. I came across a striking image of an owls skull and made the connection to the symbolism wisdom, hence my surrogate mother being this spiritual animal. I am a surrealist but with my roots in Vienna and the movement of the fantastic realists. My materials chosen for painting are acrylics, which I use in thin glazing layers over the initial underpainting and imprimatura.

Austria
Born December 15th, 1944 in Felixdorf, Austria. Lived in Vienna until 1964, then moved to Stockholm, Sweden until 1968, subsequently emigrated to Canada in 1969, living in Calgary and moving to Lethbridge, Alberta the following year.Initially influenced by Surrealism, I later followed the Vienna School of Fantastic Realism. I am listed in the Who's Who Section under Honorary Art Patrons of the Society for Art of Imagination. In January 2009, I founded the Private Visionary Art Network, and a short time later, the Public Visionary Art Gallery, featuring the Network Artists. Some of the worlds leading Surrealist, Fantastic Realist and Visionary Artists are members and displayed in our Gallery. Returned to Vienna, Austria in 2011.
