Sunday - Neon Night Jungle Painting

This piece returns to the earlier more abstract jungle pieces with an exploration of bright rambling floral creatures against a deeply toned background established with expressive, velvety brushstrokes in rich Prussian blue, aubergine purple and jet black gouache. A languorously arching monstera inspired leaf stretches across a large swathe of the cradled board, bisecting the composition with deep green tendrils spattered with flecks of paler mint green and drips of color. Protea-like blooms appear in the piece too, in shades of pale blush and bright neon pink, offset against loose ultramarine blue linework. Rambling sprays of dots in varied greens imitate the growth pattern of eucalyptus leaves as they curl, sprout and climb across the piece. Magenta crayon marks overlay the dark background, adding a playful expressive touch and finishing the work.
