About The Artwork
The Painting is inspired by the numerous stones to be found in Bretagne in western France. To be more exact, it depicts a special stone set up approximately 6000 years ago close to Penloïc, a small village on the coastline. Originally the stone was located close to a small fountain, it was obviously a place where special rites were performed. Today the stone stands on the coast of a wide open aestuar, and depending on the tide, it is half under water some time of the day.
