About The Artwork
The Star Magnolia trees are some of the very earliest blooming trees in Northern United States. Every spring the blooms come out before their leaves and while most of the landscape is still gray and brown as winter fades away. They are fascinating trees that set their buds in the previous fall, ready to pop out when it warms in spring. This painting is the first in a series of several studies of the flowering trees and various moods and colors as spring progresses in the upper Midwest.
