About The Artwork

Earth Art Work-Nº 572 al fresco In spring and summer 2005 - sixty years after the end of Nationalsocialism - Ekkeland Götze collected SOIL for the SHOA project from 25 sites in 10 different countries in Europe. The exact excavation sites at the different locations were chosen in collaboration with the local authorities. These were survivors of the Holocaust, as well as Presidents of Jewish communities and organizations and people in charge of the memorial sites. All of them accompanied EG during the excavation of the SOIL. From September to December 2005 the artist made 25 frescoes one square meter each in size. The main work will be completed by an edition of terragraphics on paper. The stringent concept and the abstract design of the work will allow a space for the viewer's associations, where he can develop his own individual examination of the Holocaust.
