About The Artwork
My painting, 'Scarab' is one of a pair of large scale abstract paintings I worked on in the last 2 weeks prior to Christmas 2016. This one is predominantly reds, orange and dark magenta (top right, digital photograph doesn't quite show this tone) and the other, 'Under Current', I painted in blues and yellow. 'Scarab' is painted using a variety of techniques. I concentrated on keeping the paint fluid allowing freedom of marks and expression. The contrasting tones of light and dark evoke a mystical quality, as does it's title'Scarab'.

Born 1965,Northampton, UK. I am currently painting and drawing from my studio in an old shoe factory in my home town of Northampton. 1988 - I graduated with a BA (hons) in Fashion and Textiles with Business . My work experience as a textile designer includes London-based fashion and furnishing studios and the contemporary interiors company; Designers Guild. During my training as a textile designer, I developed my own style of painting, printing and drawing. Paint has always been my medium of choice. Oils are particularly preferential, as they enable me to create areas of surface texture or depth by layering and adding mediums for flow.
