About The Artwork

Original Artwork Mixed Media (acrylic paint, print, ink) on Canvas 50 x 70 cm Sappho was an Archaic Greek poet famously declared the "Tenth Muse" by Plato. Ancient sources state that she produced nine volumes of poetry. While 200 fragments have been attributed to Sappho, only 2 complete poems and approximately 40 fragments survived, hence the fragmented and multilayered composition of this painting. This artwork was displayed at the Queer Frontiers exhibition in Soho, London 2022.
