About The Artwork
This oil on linen canvas on wooden strecher is inspired of my last travel to Morocco a few years ago, where I have discovered for the first time real intensity of colours. I would have liked to see in this painting struggeling between intensity of sunlight and sheets of colours. This painting with its yellow, gold and orange fond and white figures of men refers to one of Moroccan Matisse's paintings "Cafe arabe" from 1912-13. My ambition was to juxtapose this atmosphere with contour and very intensive shits of colours trapped in geometry referring to begining of avant-garde style and times.

I'm a psychologist, clinical neuropsychologist, therapist and art historian. I work as a lecturer at Open University of University of Warsaw. My place of birth is Poland. I live and work in Warsaw. I usually paint "alla prima" using wet-on-wet technique. Most of my my oils are painted with a thick layer of oil paint not very diluted. That's because texture of paintings is important to me as well. I also like watercolors and gouaches. I usually paint very quick making one painting in one or two days, but some of my paintings are painted longer, f. ex. paintings which I decided to continue after few years.
