About The Artwork

STOP offers a multiplicity of expressive insights and reminders to bring the viewer to the present. As the focal point, the cross does not symbolize crucifixion, but rather it stands in place of time and eternity. The horizontal line embodies time in the sense of the past and future that busy and agonize the mind, separating the individual from God. The vertical line signifies the "no mind," the present, the Paradise, the Eternity. Depicting an abstract presence of the Madonna and Child, free flowing clouds splash and swirl around the cross, tunneling into the horizon. Calling forth a new era with a universal "religion" based on universal truth, peace, love, harmony, and a realization and understanding of the body, mind, heart, and soul, this piece exalts inner peace. With the mind as the only obstacle to being with God, one must learn to embrace the quiet, providing space for the divine to enter.
