About The Artwork

The delicate and sophisticated lines present in our new adaptation of art deco have been blurring the lines between geometric forms and organic ones. In this painting there are influences from classic artists such as pollock and more contemporary ones like Michael Bond and Bobbie Burgers. Rush Ablaze suggest a fusion of styles, both in terms of era and culture. We see a whimsical graze of lines, a playful dash of colour, a subtle suggestion of floral and a hint of long exposure. The mind is free to interpret and come to its own conclusions and sentiments. As a interior designer by trade, I often specify art for clients home, and I have found that the psychology of what people are attracted to and want to see everyday is the suggestion of something, rather than the thing itself. This is the power of abstract art. It is like music, where notes and melodies give meaning, rather than telling you what you should feel. Upon purchase, this piece of art will be mounted into a floater frame, as can be seen in the 'in situ gallery' image. I will be asking the buyer whether they prefer the frame to be stained black, or remain a natural wood finish. When framed, the total size will measure 25.5"x25.5".

My roots belong in Windsor Ontario, known as the city across the river from Detroit. There, the insatiable hunger to produce artwork began. My first oil painting was of iris' in a wine glass. I told my mother I wanted to paint Iris' and she insisted that we walk to a wealthier neighborhood, convinced we would find them there. She was correct! Seconds after spotting some, she was knocking on a strangers front door, asking whether we could clip some of their flowers. To my shy disbelief, they weren't bewildered, but rather overjoyed to help a young artist with her painting! I live in Toronto now, but the constant madness of getting the perfect painting continues, each piece with its own fantastical tale. Now the paintings environments come from further than the 'wealthier neighborhoods,' but from all of the world during my travel escapades. There is never a terrible time to yell "quick, pull over the car!" or ask "can you hold my purse while I crawl into this tiny space and get a picture of this weird thing?" The perfect shot for a great painting could happen at any moment.
