About The Artwork

Rosebush in the Sun is a part of my series about perception and feelings. When you see this painting I would like to smell the fragrance of roses warmed up by the sun and hear the bees buzzing. The painting has been observed by several senses it will still be behind your eyelids when you close your eyes. The delicate pink shades of the oil paint contraste lovely with the gold painting that symbolises the sun. A blue shadow in the lower left corner makes the pink levitate and il also gives a sensation of sept. A few drippings add a rough touch to the sweet pink/

Katrine P. Funderud was born in 1968. She lives in Provence but was born and raised in the Oslo-fjord area. She has a master's degree in art history from the University of Provence, where she studied the XIX-century painters who came to work in the Mediterranean landscapes. Her love for nature stems from her childhood in the Norwegian countryside scenery, and it has become one of the primary sources of inspiration in her art. The Art History studies taught her about formal painting techniques that allowed her to compose abstract works. Through the act of creation, Katrine P. Funderud captures the essence of a feeling, a stratum of truth, or the atmosphere of a moment. In large-scale oil paintings, she explores the tension between the dramatic northern landscapes and the colorful, sun-burned South. Her objective is to paint what she is: a melting pot of acquisitions and experiences that make her a being of contradictions and harmony. She exhibits her works in local and international shows, and her paintings are held in private collections in the USA, England, Monaco, Canada, the Netherlands, Norway, and France.
