About The Artwork

Sometimes you work, and work on then step back and say "Wow I did that!" This was one of those! If you asked me when and how some of it came to be, I really couldn't answer. I know a lot pf it flowed and was intuitive, and other parts I was aware of but when all was said and done I was truly amazed! The Colors, the Textures, The Flow.....I hope it goes to a happy home! The Original Oil on Canvas has the image continued around the galley wrapped edges so as not to interfere with the experience of viewing the image, and it is wired multiple ways to enhance the creativity of the viewer.

I absolutely Love creating. It excites me, energizes me and makes me happy beyond measure. Whether it is creating in clay, on canvas or through a lens, I strive to convey my Inspiration & Joy It wasn't always this way. Learning the rules of drawing, composition, and sculpture, were most definitely very important. After quite a long while, through the wisdom & insights of my then, young children, I allowed myself to be "free". I no longer strove to "get it right", as in a landscape, still life, or throwing a bowl on a potters wheel. I now created my own compositions from absolutely no frame of reference...virtually from nothing. Watching colors ebb & flow, when I paint, is akin to magic. I allow the paint to interact. After "playing" comes work--- the difficult decisions of what sections to reign in, and what to exemplify, all to create an exciting & balanced composition Creating with clay is totally different & yet similar With clay, while trying to create something unique that will get the viewers' juices flowing, considering the structural integrity of the material is paramount. Otherwise, the piece could crack or in dramatic cases, completely blow up in the kiln. Because I also love to garden, which in itself is like creating a living work of art, many of my photographs are of flowers, but usually not "sweet". Sensuous, dramatic, yes.... but not sweet I don't do sweet! Most of my photographs are of "familiar" objects, created in a way as to appear abstract----water is a favorite, as are reflections, minerals and almost anything that catches my eye! Creating something from nothing is akin to creating a puzzle, and frankly, puzzles drive me crazy! But creating my own via my art is totally the opposite. Frankly, it takes a special person to appreciate abstract art. Recognizing what one is viewing provides a sort of comfort. Abstract art is more visceral. Among other things, it can stimulate emotions and problem solve, as well as inspire. Truthfully, my own parents did not "get" what I do, and that was difficult to say the least. The reactions of friends when I finally allowed my work to be seen was affirming. Total strangers who react with relaxed body language, beatific smiles, or the hope that my creations will help their bout with mental illness, consistently fills me with a sense of purpose as well as Joy that I am doing something positive with my life.
