Reflection Painting

My painting deals with the concept and state of ‘refection’. It is a personal moment or focus on one’s thoughts, delving into, analyzing, and contemplating about a particular subject. For me there is a special, organic process that one is engaged in as one deals with the intimate, internal, introspective journey, that maybe conscious or unconscious as we travel in that state of reflection. We may reflect on a poem, on a personal verbal interaction we had with anyone, we can reflect on the nature and intention of a painting, on an emotional event that has touched us and brought us to states of melancholia, joy, sadness, confusion, etc. Thus, it is possible to say, that in a state of contemplative reflection, we take a pause, and become absorbed by what ideas, interactions, experiences or thoughts that transfix us and that travel through us. My painting stands alone as an individual work of art, but also co-exists comfortably as a creative extension to the painting ‘Meditation’ and can best be viewed as a diptych.
