This is one of a series of paintings I did where I used antique objects that I inherited from my mother after she passed away. I never even noticed this little bottle and wooden bobbin in our house while growing up but suddenly after her death small items like these were bathed in a sentimental aura that I tried to capture.

Born in South Africa and currently living in France. I originally trained as an interior designer but changed tracks later in life when I was seduced by oil paint. I am fascinated by the emotional bonds that we have with decorative objects and interior spaces, becoming elevated when we capture these on film or art. I am self taught and work mainly in oil, influenced by the Dutch masters and contemporary Realist movement.
