You can watch the process here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VBmvMvn52zA I have usually preferred to behave in an abstract and expressionist manufacture, integrating a personal calligraphy, perhaps a type of glossolalia, seeking an integration of textures as a basis to represent time. Actually After a year living in a Catholic seminary, i was “suggested” to leave the ecclesiastical career. In this series i started to use a figurative technique as a first layer surface in the canvas. I have a fascination for the ancient religious iconography, the Mexican baroque and its exaggeration in the images. Since young, far from being interested in the sunday liturgy mass, my gaze was focused on those painful madonnas of European origins and in the omnipresent figure of the Virgin of Guadalupe. In this new experimentation I start to incorporate, as a support, some illustration, kind of an “academic” type of drawing with subject inspired from different periods of the art history mixed with contemporary themes, mainly other artists. Once this “first layer” is finished, mainly made of graphite, i use it as a "surface" of the canvas to return to my original abstract and calligraphic technique. I consider this final phase as the most important and the main part of the work. The fact of scratching the canvas with spray paint and other materials over a surface made with a technique that requires a longer time of work; gives it its importance.
