I spent years as a stunt hula hoopist, and its an interesting game to play... now that the anxiety of actually figuring it out has passed. I think its also a valid question most people face in their lives, whether through transitions or loss. The Artist as a Kitten in a Borrowed Dress, is a reaction to the way we tend to portray ourselves as something else, and the emphasis placed on 'identity' in this age of social media. Do we risk being honest? Do we risk showing ourselves truly or do we try and show ourselves as something we think may be more appealing? These 'selfie' pieces add interest to 'gallery walls'.
