About The Artwork
After lockdown 2020, in spring that year I got back to working on a series of large canvasses around the formal interests arising from that period of reduced space, exploring changes of scale, and a greater focus on the pictorial - form, colour, rhythm... There are contrasts between thick and thin as per usual, and between line and mass. My focus is on enlarging the elements, simplifying the pictorial field and yet keeping a sense of diversity and openness. Pilgrim refers to the sense of physical wandering and spiritual search, the dance between external and internal forces which are very much present in my practice.

I was born and raised in Sweden, and I've been living and painting in Spain for many years now. My painting is process driven and inspired by natural phenomena such as weather processes, the interplay between light and movement in the tree crowns and on the surface of the sea. Current obsessions include patterns, vibrations, colour... My work is abstract, and I think of it as an organic process. There is no previous plan. I do try to keep a sense of a moving whole, offering a somewhat unstable but hopefully vibrant picture to the viewer, as a point of observation and reflection.
